Ramen Noodles

This kitchen classic has been made at my home for as long as I can remember. Considering how cheap the average ramen packet is, this staple food is extremely appetizing. That being said, the classic flavors can getting old fairly quickly. After years of experimenting, I’ve discovered the ultimate flavor in cheap, instant ramen. All you need is the standard beef flavored ramen, some eggs, spam, soy sauce, and a couple seasonings. Adding just a few cheap flavors like garlic, onion, and ginger can make all the difference, and here’s the secret ingredient; put an egg yolk into your bowl, and slowly stir in the boiling broth. This will add so much flavor and texture to the meal, you can’t even tell it was under $5.
Photographing this meal turned out to be a real treat. I continued to struggle with figuring out the best approach to portray all this meal has to offer. Admittedly, the bunched cloth under the bowl was an odd decision, I’d chalk it up to being a product of my upbringing. The transition to working on such subject oriented work was difficult, especially as an abstract artist. All in all, I’d say this was a success. I’m largely satisfied with the final result of the photos, and the foot was absolutely delicious. Needless to say, ramen will continue to be a favorite in my household.
